Jess Ayers is an award-winning journalist, a former TV reporter for Nexstar Media Group, blogger, freelance writer, and influencer. In 2014, her husband was killed by a stray bullet leaving her and her 3-day-old infant behind. In 2015, she started her blog (The Singing Widow) to help others cope with loss and trauma. Her blog has been named a “Top 10 Widow Blog” by Feedspot for five years in a row.

In 2018, Jessica married the second love of her life, and the two began their journey to have a child together. After months of trying to conceive, they started seeing a fertility specialist and were given a 2% chance of conceiving naturally. After undergoing surgery, Jessica became pregnant only to miscarry nine weeks later. In 2021, they began IVF and are expecting a baby girl in July 2022.

Jess got her start as a singer with her first husband, Justin, and sang professionally for over 12 years. After stepping away from music, she went back to school to pursue a writing career and graduated with a bachelor’s from Florida State University in 2020. Since beginning her writing career, she has written for many different publications, including POPSUGAR, Love What Matters, and House of Wise; a few of which were syndicated by Yahoo and MSN.

Her Instagram account (@Thesingingwidow) reaches up to 6 million people weekly, and her Reels have over 40 million views combined. Jess lives in Bay County, FL, with her son Jax, her husband Don, and golden doodle, Ozzie. She plans to publish her first book, a self-help/memoir hybrid summer of 2022.
